Believe God Wants You to Prosper

Scripture Reference: 3 John 1:2-8


I. Background

1. God wants you to prosper (Psalm 35:27; Proverbs 10:15; Luke 4:18) A. Poor: ptochos Strong’s 4434 “poor and helpless; on who in his abjectness needs

lifting. One who had fallen from a better estate. The penes (Strong’s 3993) may

be poor but he earns his bread by daily labor. The ptochos is so poor that he can

only obtain his living by begging. The penes has nothing superfluous, while the

ptochoshas have nothing at all.

2. God became poor, so you could become rich (2 Corinthians 8:9) A. Rich: Plousios Strong’s 4145 “wealthy, abounding in material resources B. Rich: Plouteo Strong’s 4147 “to be rich, to have abundance; to be richly supplied

and affluent in resources to give blessings to others (Luke 12:21)

3. Biblical prosperity A. Glorify God B. Bless people C. Increase God’s kingdom (Revelation 1:6; Deuteronomy 8:18)


II. Teaching Points

1. Believe God loves you (3 John 1:2 AMP; John 3:16; Romans 8:32)

2. Believe God wants you to be healthy (3 John 1:2; Proverbs 17:22 AMP)

3. Believe God wants your soul to prosper (3 John 1:2; John 10:10) 3.1 Mind will and emotions A. Think wrong…believe wrong B. Think wrong...live wrong

4. Believe God rejoices in your obedience (3 John 1:3-4; Zephaniah 3:17 AMP)

5. Believe God will reward your obedience (3 John 1:5-6; Hebrews 6:10-12; Matthew

6. Believe God will provide for your ministry (3 John 1:7; Philippians 4:19)

1. Labor not to be rich (Proverbs 24:4-5) 2. Labor to give to those in need (Ephesians 4:28)
