Hidden Ones

Updated: Apr 5

Psalms 83:3 (KJV)

"They have taken crafty counsel against thy people and consulted against thy hidden ones."

God has "hidden ones" in the world today. Men and women of that are rarely seen or heard from. Christians that are on fire for the Lord and willing to serve him in any capacity necessary.

These servants are not looking for self-glory or trying to make a name for themselves. They are not looking for recognition or a thank you card in the mail. These mighty Christians don't have to be motivated to action. When their number is called by the Lord they act.

These "hidden ones" are not noticeable in a crowd of people. Like Jesus, they have "no form or comeliness, and no beauty that we should desire them" (Isaiah 53:2). These hidden ones are not trying to be flashy or be seen for themselves. They only want Christ to shine in their lives.

Psalms 83:3 (KJV)

They have taken crafty counsel against thy people and consulted against thy hidden ones.

These "hidden ones" are tucked away in the earth by God. They are sons and daughters that live a normal life. They go to work and come home. Some are elderly and retired. They read their Bible and meditate on the scriptures. They live a life of constant prayer. These hidden ones yearn for the presence of God and desire to live a holy life. They are the ones that clean the toilets of the church on Saturdays. They are the ministers that do prison ministry, a ministry that very few want to do.

These hidden ones sacrifice worldly activities and instead go to prayer meetings to intercede for ministries and the lost sheep in the world. These hidden ones support ministries with their finances. They use their talents and money to further the Gospel of the Kingdom.

These hidden ones can be trusted to give a timely word to someone when God calls them. They are willing to forsake all and go when the command is given. They will minister the Gospel to a stranger at Walmart, or a stranded motorist on the side of the road.

Most of these hidden ones are peppered across the earth. Only God knows where they are. They are reserved soldiers in the army of the Lord and can be activated to fight against the kingdom of darkness at any time."And Ahab had called Obadiah, who was in charge of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the Lord greatly. For so it was, while Jezebel massacred the prophets of the Lord, that Obadiah had taken one hundred prophets and HIDDEN them, fifty to a cave, and had fed them with bread and water" 1 Kings 18:3-4 NKJV).

Allow me to set the stage for you. There was a famine in the land caused by the prophet Elijah. Because of the famine, Jezebel, a wicked woman began to murder all the prophets of the Lord. At the time there was a "hidden one" in the land named Obadiah. He was an everyday person who was a servant to the King of Israel, who happened to be over Jezebel's household. When the Lord called his "number, " he risked his life to hide the remaining prophets inside a cave. The 100 hidden prophets were secluded in a cave surviving off bread and water as they tarried in the presence of the Lord every day and night.

These 100 prophets didn't have a ministry. There were no invitations to preach, nor were they even known. So, what was their purpose for hiding? Their purpose was to wait on the Lord until the appointed time. These prophets were some of the 7,000 men in the land who hadn't bowed their knees to Baal. (1 Kings 19:18) These hidden men would soon be released from a dark, secluded, wet cave to preach the name of God throughout Israel. God knew where they were, and He would soon call their number.

A few weeks ago, a Christian lady asked me to write another prisoner and encourage him. I was humbled and honored that I had been called for this task and I spent most of the night and all the next day praying over and penning a letter to the inmate. God knew that He could trust this "hidden writer" therefore He called my number.

Some of you may have noticed that I haven't written much lately. Honestly, I haven't felt led to write. I didn't wake up today thinking that I would write a sermon. I was reading my daily scriptures when my eyes scanned Psalms 83:3. Then like I had stepped on a landmine, this sermon exploded out of my spirit onto my tablet. My number was called, and the hidden man arose.

I constantly pray, "God, I am here and willing to do whatever you need me to or go wherever you need me to go. I am your hidden one." God knows where you are. He has you hidden away for a specific purpose. At times ministry is simply "standing before the Lord" in His presence (1 Kings 17:1). "Hidden ones" don't go out looking for ministry, they are ministry, waiting to be called to duty.
